Visit to our Mission of the Province - Dadra Nagar Haveli

For the last 9 years, we have accepted a mission place from the Diocese of Goa....which was looked after by the Pillar Fathers...Dadra-Nagar-Haveli is a union Territory between Maharashtra and Gujarat States...it is a beautiful place surrounded by natural beauty...there are hills all around ....the population is mostly Tribals who live on agriculture...today there are many big industries and hotel....it is also a tourist place...you find a lot of resorts all over....People from Mumbai and Gujarat come over here for weekends.
It is 2 hours drive from Mumbai with a superb highway....

This is a Tabernacle in the Church dedicated to our Lady of Rosary.....it is the symbol of local culture.....

The Friars have a small Marathi Medium non-aided school, a boarding for boys, a small parish with 700 Catholics mostly tribals and about 15 villages to look after....there are three friars who look after....the needs of the mission are many but due to finances, it is difficult to provide ....

The place is well maintained by the friars and boarders

The Boarders belong to all religion...they are happy to be here as they come from very far off places where there are no schools close by....

The Church dedicated to Our Lady of Rosary....in this pandemic people do miss their Eucharist and other parish activities....but they do come to visit during the day...

A small residence for the friars....no self-contained rooms but they are enjoying their stay....a Franciscan Capuchin Perfect Joy

A small school where about 150 students study here....Non-aided but recognized by the Government
A new Boarding is under construction....but at the moment work is held up due to lack of funds....you would like to support the friars, you are most welcome...
A vegetable garden cultivated by the friars and boarders

This is the new boarding....
We were taken around by Br. Anthony Pereira who is the parish priest and Guardian....Br. Cedrick is assistant and in charge of the school and boarding...
The friars are a little worried as the boarders might come soon as the Government is thinking of opening the schools here...
