Feast of All Saints - Communicators of God's love and Mercy, forgiveness and compassion

My Village Called "Fernand All-Mardes"....we have one of the oldest Crosses in Vasai.....at the entrance of our Village surrounded by a beautiful lake.....the lake water never dries up.....even in summer we have water for our livestock ....
All Saint were Holy people who had wonderful communication with their Creator and `savior God. God was their Antena and Tower through which they received signals and communicated them to the needy people around. These men and women used different SIM` cards like cards of Love, Mercy, commission, forgiveness, confession, pastoral visits, prayer, and healing. These SIM cards were had a strong network because God was the service provider. Their connection was never weak or got lost because God had the electricity of understanding always flowing in all the situations, the connection never was lost because of the storm, heavy rains, and tornados, or any other natural calamities.

The communication was not one-sided but reciprocal one. God gave them and they received obedience and humility. They never did their will but the will of God the Father who guided their destiny. Because of their strong bondedness, they went to the nook and corner of the world to proclaim that God is Love and His Son is the Living Water and Life for all those believe in him. They experienced themselves in their personal lives and went about giving the same to the people around them. They traveled seven seas in order to speak about God's kingdom of love. They sacrificed their lives at the foot and for Cross. They lived their call in union with the Lord Jesus.

They were Holy in all respect of their human call and vocation be the perfect image of God, They were called aside to be separate, they were cut above the norm, superior and extraordinary. They lived and dwelt on a different level of faith, trust and relationship with God than rest of us. They were filled with the mighty presence of God that nothing would frigthen them even persecution and death They boldly faced all the problems and challenges in life as they were convinced of God's love and accompaniment

If you want to become saint then follow the beautitudes of the Gospel....a sure path to be Holy one of God...a desire to be saint accompanied by prayer and penance will definitely lead us to the Altar of God...entertain this desire every day....

Time for Franciscan Conversion

During this Pandemic, we have heard and read stories and experiences of many good men and women who have gone through the process of Conversion. A change of heart can always come at any point and juncture of our human lives, provided we are able to take up the call and sincerely go about mending and repairing our Lives according to the plan and will of God. To Live a Gospel way of Life has been a daunting task and challenge, which has always demanded a total conversion. People during this pandemic have experienced a personal conversion to the Lord, not just because of the disease and the fear of death but the time that was needed and required by the person to listen to God’s voice and to one’s inner voice. There were many issues and problems that were buried deep down, had a lot of negative effects on ourselves, and on our relationship with others, But we just went along with the current and running after false hopes. The end result was a spiritual and emotional crisis. Break of marriage vows and even running away for the commitment made to the Lord. This pandemic has given a big gift of time for us to know who we were and what was is wrong that leads to our loneliness and create misunderstanding. Those wounds and heavy languages we were carrying for years had to be touched and seen from a close quarter. Many who did it, we're able to go through the real conversion.

St. Francis had a similar kind of experience in his youth, running after his dreams and goals, trying to enjoy with the friends all the niceties of life, a kind of aimless life. For him, conversions were a response to the call of God which he heard internally and externally. A call to first repair and mend his lifestyle so that God could prepare him to serve the Master and not the servant. This conversion is a gradual realization process that led Francis to surrender totally to the Lord to be a new person with a new vision and relationships with everyone around him. We know from his life that he chose the Lord, without realizing the surrender and sacrifices would be required of him like his home, family, friends, his former lifestyle, self-image, vibrant, radiant youth, the darling of the townsmen of Assisi.

We have to go through what Francis went through in order to be an instrument of peace, joy, and relationships. He willingly came forward to surrender everything to the Lord. He at first wandered around hills, valleys, and caves…he was in total confusion until he bowed before the Crucifix at San Damiano. We have to bow down before the mighty lord when there is confusion and disorder when we are enveloped in darkness. Like Francis we need to hear the voice of the Lord: Francis, go and repair my Church which is falling in ruins. He had to do something…proud of his achievements.

But he realized that no one came to those churches. He had to build the church within him and the people, the church of God. He had to strip himself. He stripped himself of his Armor to the poor knight, his clothes to the beggar in Rome, and final stripping before his father Bernadone. Only God takes control of his life, no one and nothing else, no others opinion, not pain and illness, no hunger, ridicule, and rejection… only God. He referred to himself as a great sinner and rejoiced that God could still use him. He was a loved sinned...a creation of God, though soiled, yet a good creation loved by God. Every incident in his life becomes a source of the grace of his conversion.

Challenge yourself, Be Proud of your achievements!!!!!!!!

We come across many people who don't like challenges to face, they don't challenge others, or do they speak about challenges being part of our human life. Challenging oneself to think better, happy, and contented people we in fact do become so. But to think and challenge ourselves to be better and happy people needs a lot of guidance, mentors, patience, and practice. If these have priorities in our human life then challenging ourselves and others become very easy. Most successful people are those who have challenged themselves in many difficult situations and events of human existence. They have overcome all hurdles just by challenging and have built up empires by challenging their colleagues and employees. They do it without much lectures and talks but by their positive outlook and energy.

When we are proud of our own achievement it propels many chances of ours to achieve more. There are many dormant talents and capabilities within us which are not challenges or we ignore them, as a result, we remain what we are in spite of having tremendous gifts and talents. It is because we don't allow ourselves, to be proud of who we are, what we have, from where we come, what progress we have made, and what are our connections.  There are many things that we have achieved and we are only aware of them, but the question is are we proud of it? When we appreciate our own achievements, when we pat ourselves we climb the ladder of success every now and then, no one can compete with us.

It is so easy to preach about Love and its practice. It becomes very easy to write a blog on love but the question is Am i loving everything we can in our lives so that we can speak and write for others out of our won experience to enhance and beautify the love lives of others. Love everything you can. Love everyone you can. Feel love, and you will experience that love, coming back to you ~ multiplied, many times more!!!! I'm a firm believer, that happiness makes people prettier. It's definitely, a noticeable glow!!  You’re either choosing to be happy now or you’re making excuses, for not choosing to be happy. Enjoy your weekend
God loves a cheerful giver! When you give, scripture says, it will be given back to you. Sometimes, we want to hold tightly to things, because we are afraid. But God wants to work, through your giving, so open your hands and heart and let Him have His way!
We are the ones who can determine, what our lives, success, and achievements will be. We are the one who determines, what our day will be ~ by the way, that we feel! our vibration is determining our reality. Good vibes create a good life!  If you are breathing, healthy & alive you are privileged. Savor each breath. Time runs out on everyone. There will come a day, when each of us without exception, will have to bid life, goodbye. No amount of success, money, power, fame or glory, can change that. So be kind. Please.  You are under no obligation, to remain the same person, you were, a year ago, a month ago, or even a day ago. You are here, to create yourself, continuously.

"Our enemy who plots against us, plucks up courage when dealing with the weak, but when anyone takes a weapon and faces him.....he becomes a coward!" ~ St Padre Pio

Pandemic has been a time for a Deep and Strong Faith in God

Life is meaningful and worth living when there is faith in God and in someone or something, We begin to enjoy and grow life in all its dimensions. We begin to experience the fruits of deep and strong faith in God here on Earth. Faith which is a spiritual element that resides in the internal of human beings helps us to experience and handle the ups and downs, pain and happiness, light, and darkness of our lives. There have been persons who have fought the battles of life with sheer strong and deep faith in the divine. Sometimes people who always complain about many things in life are those who lack faith which can work wonders and miracles. Faith and belief support, sustain, strengthens, leads us forward, give us reason to live, and hope. If we are people of Faith God speaks to us every moment and through every creature that is in creation.

In difficult moments and situations if faith is expressed and lived out well then answers are available and rays of hope are shown to us by the Lord. In hard moments God and human beings accept from us a deep, long-lasting, and strong faith that will not allow one to give up but to surrender and accept the way of the Lord. Faith gives us the inner courage and energy to face any moments of crisis, faith takes us out of situations which look impossible, it makes us tough in moments of crisis to give a fitting response to difficult and hard moments of life. Men and women who have gone through tough and hard moments have overcome these situations because of their faith in God and themselves. because we have faith we take for granted that there will not be negative, sour and bitter moments in life. Life does not become bed or roses but allows us to make life comfortable when we experience sharp thrones that prick us quite deep and wound us.

in these days of Corona, many persons have shown and exhibited strong faith by just accepting the situations and events which were hard and beyond any human control. They have just surrendered to the Lord and to his might powerful hand which can take all our blues away. These men and women have been heroic and have stood their ground without compromising and giving up faith and trust in the Lord. These people have tremendous inner strength with which they can face any difficult situations in life.

Be a vessel of a good message

Fr. Raniero Cantalamessa, a newly appointed Cardinal by Pope Francis.....Yesterday he became the fourth Capuchin Cardinal...I lived with him in the general curia for 6 years...he was my next-door neighbour...alayws he smiled and wished me....appreciated me whenever I preached in our Curia chapel...a greater and famous preacher to the Papel house....

Today all around there are fake and false news being spread through social media, many have destroyed the good name of the good people through spreading bad news, many have committed suicides because someone made a fake video or created a wrong negative message and that person could not bear it up....we read it in the newspapers, watch on our TV screens etc....we are bombarded with fake and bad news every moment, Can we try to be bearer or vessels of good news in this broken and the darkened world?

What if I told you I am good news or what if I told you I am bad news? Which one of me you would accept? What if I told I am fine, brave enough, I will not fall, I will be successful, I see the future. These and millions of ways of being good news to the brokenhearted men and women around. We can be mend and repair the lives of these who are broken and looking for good news in their broken lives, dreams, present sent, and future. Those of us who have the magical words given by the Lord could make a difference and bring about changes in the dragging hopes. Our Magical words can lift up the drooping spirit and without touching good words drive away fear and fright from these millions of broken people.

The bearers of good message are those who experience and declare the same Love of God to those groping in darkness, their sole aim is to be good and bring about positive changes in the lives of others. They teach pardon and forgiveness, cleansing oneself from all impurity of thoughts and deeds, bringing comfort for the weak, peace, and joy to those who have lost of hope of everything in life. These people are committed to God and His values to be spread around. They are real Christian who bear the person of Christ within.

These people only know the Gospel and feel the need to teach the good news more through the lives of witnesses than by theories.

Life is a flow of multiple dimensions. There is a visible world which we all are able to see while there is also an invisible world which we are unable to see but cannot discount its existence. When we look at ourselves there are three dimensions of ourselves. What we think of ourselves What others think of ourselves. What we actually are which we have not been able to comprehend.
What we think we are is an image we have drawn of ourselves based on our own likes, dislikes, conclusions, beliefs, dogmas, and so on. More often than not this remains with us and grows with the passage of time uninspected. There is a tendency to crave the validation of our image. Children want to be praised for even the smallest of deeds that they do. When someone praises us we feel good about ourselves.  On the other hand when someone criticizes we get hurt. Life has become a pendulum oscillating between these two. Look at the other side. What do people think of me? More often than not the image that I carry of myself seems to be almost the opposite of what people think of me.
Hearing his guardian singing, the senior friar says, "You know dear when you sing like that I just wish you were on the radio."The guardian smiles and replies, "Wow dear, you think I am that good?"No, but at least that way I can change the station or turn it off." This may sound a little exaggeration but more or less it is true. It is therefore important for us to edit and audit ourselves and appropriately position our own understanding of ourselves. This leads us to explore and question ourselves who we really are? What is the sum of our existence?  The great master always used to say ask this question Who Am I?  One who knows oneself gains the power to overcome all difficulties in life.
Why do we get angry? How does jealousy arise in us and what is wrong with it? Why do we want to act holier than thou more often? Why are we uncomfortable with disagreements? Why are we mostly tensed and stressed out? Why do we react to situations rather than respond? Great questions are not about whether God exists or not? Who created this Universe? How did this universe come into existence? Why this life? And so on. Bur real questions to be asked are about life. How to make life more meaningful stress-free, enjoyable celebrative and live an ecstatic life which all of us consciously or unconsciously are craving for. let us all explore.
When physically apart, we can feel the separation — we pine for the loved one who is far away. At the spiritual level, however, physicalities do not matter. At this level, you do not have to strive to become like Christ, for you are already like in his image. The urge to become One at the physical level alone is a great source of unhappiness. Ex: A young man once asked me, ‘Is it possible to be happy in this competitive world? Can one really build a happy life on a foundation of distrust?’ An Indian maxim goes like this, ‘However hard you search in the mouth of a crow, you will not find any teeth there.’ The Bible says, ‘The Kingdom of heaven is within.’ The Gita says, ‘Happiness is within.’ But we search for happiness not within but outside. We get lost in the details and forget the essence…that lies within.

Capuchin Franciscan Response to Covid-19 Pandemic.

HAPPY FEAST TO YOU ALL DEAR FRIARS AND FRIENDS WHO VISIT MY BLOG...I AM GRATEFUL TO YOU FOR YOUR ENCOURAGEMENT WHICH KEPT ME WRITING MY BLOG. I APPRECIATE YOUR FEEDBACK TOO. GOD BLESS YOU ALL AND ASSURING YOU MY CONTINUED PRAYERS FOR YOU.

I would like to reflect with you in this moment of crisis by making reference to the Unique and important experience of St. Francis in his spiritual journey and conversion. We all know from our Franciscan History that Francis had fear and dislike towards the lepers who were in big numbers during his time in Assisi. One day, however, he met a man afflicted with leprosy while riding his horse near Assisi. Though the sight of the leper filled him with horror and disgust, Francis got off his horse and kissed the leper. Then the leper put out his hand, hoping to receive something. Out of compassion, Francis gave money to the leper. The sight of lepers nauseated him and he would run away before this encounter, but God leading him into the company of those from whom he wanted to run away, he shows pity, care, and love. As he mentions in his Testament, “what had previously nauseated me became the source of spiritual and physical consolation for me.” This experience expanded his ministry to the lepers who were served and cared for by Francis outside the town of Assisi. The entire early brotherhood got engaged in ministering the lepers, feeding them, showing care and love even by kissing their wounds and embracing them.

Like a sudden breaking storm, the coronavirus crisis has caught us all by surprise, abruptly changing on a global level our personal, public, family, and working lives. This dramatic situation highlights the vulnerable nature of our human condition, limited as it is by time and contingency. The pandemic has also forced us to question the roots of our happiness and to rediscover the treasure of our Christian faith. It is a time of trial” which gives us the chance to reorient our lives toward God. The crisis has shown us that, especially in times of need, we depend on our solidarity with others. In a new way, it is inviting us to place our lives at the service of others. It should make us aware of global injustice and wake us up to the cry of the poor and of our gravely diseased planet. The world is suffering from the global COVID19 crisis and how the COVID19 pandemic has created the “new lepers” in our society which has brought about social and economic divisions in society. There is a fear of our family members, neighbors and colleagues who are affected by the Covid-19 and we suddenly become lepers like those of Assisi in the 12th century. We are avoiding them due to infection and many of them die without the family members being close to them. The majority of them are buried or cremated without the presence of any close relatives. The fear of the Covid-19 pandemic will see more deaths from rejection, abandonment, loneliness, and poverty than from the virus itself. Leprosy during the time of Francis created a gap between the rich, middle class, poor, lepers, etc., especially economic, spiritual, and moral. Pandemic has so far seen many coming out to serve and show compassion through their charity in the form of donations and food. The urgent need is to bridge a disproportionate loss of income amongst those living at the peripheries like the lepers of Francis’ time. The immediate need of the lepers in Assisi was love, care, compassion, and service. We too face the same situation where the lack of love, acceptance, food, and safe shelter is on the rise. Those affected by the virus are neglected by the government and all the big projects and allocation of funds for them have not reached, so there is a lack of trust and confidence among the poor affected by Covid-19. Francis and the brothers ignored the Restrictions laid by the commune to visit and serve the lepers in order to treat them as human beings and to protect leper’s health. We see in the nook and corner of our cities and towns that many poor COVID-19 patients are often denied proper treatment and human dignity is at stake. The poor are feeling that they have been forgotten and have no one to raise voice for them. In this kind of situation what is our response as followers and imitators of St. Francis of Assisi?

There are many ways today that we can assist those who in the crisis created by the Pandemic and those whom society and government reject—those who are down mental illness due to the fear of being affected by the virus. In the spirit of Saint Francis of Assisi, we can kiss and wash their wounds which are physical, emotional, and spiritual created by the pandemic. We can offer them comfort or compassion.  As Christians and Franciscans can we help the affected who have been going through a fear of being neglected and a stranger because they are poor? Can we contribute to the efforts of Governments towards the economic recovery from the pandemic? There are challenges and opportunities presented to the Christians in Maharashtra by the pandemic experience. In this isolation and crisis, many have been reduced to nothing, many young ones are committing suicides, family problems are on the rise, can we offer them the emotional and spiritual support as Francis and the brothers offered to the lepers of Assisi. Can we create a sense of belonging among those affected by the Covid-19? Let us discover that we need each other. Are we prepared to serve with those at the periphery?

The Covid-19 offers us a golden opportunity to have the same dramatic personal experience and orientation in our Churches and families and each individual Christian that brings forth spiritual fruits. But the need of the hour is to show mercy and compassion to those affected and we will experience the mercy of God’s mercy and compassion in our own lives.

Our United response could be: Search for those who need our mutual support and understanding, sharing our resources and give a voice to them in order to overcome this crisis. During and after the Pandemic our services, apostolate, and ministries could be geared up by visits, dialogue, sharing, and offering emotional support to those who have recovered and the families of those victims of the Pandemic. There are many Church based NGO with whom we could collaborate and cooperate by sharing our expertise and not just limit and focus on material needs.  The call of God to St Francis, “Go rebuild my House”, is God’s call to us today. By now, no one needs to tell us about the impact of the pandemic we’re experiencing. There are a great number of inconveniences. There is also a lot of fear and confusion. This fear and loneliness could be a worse contagion that we spread unwittingly. In response to the growing number of COVID-19 cases in Maharashtra, we need to take proactive measures to accommodate people who will have a different experience after the pandemic. We need to determine the most effective use of our friar’s expertise and our limited resources to help fight pandemic affected people. We have to also always remind ourselves of our responsibility to go beyond ordinary ways of looking at the reality of a difficult situation brought to us now. We also need to prepare ourselves and others for a healthy way of living. We have universal responsibility which respects other’s right to live a healthy, dignified, and safe life. Business avarice, ecological degradation, war, and manipulations have torn the world apart. But now the time is ripe for the world leaders to work together, share medical information, support concretely to face the crisis and bring it to an end. As disciples of Jesus and followers of St. Francis. we could respond in the following ways with faith, responsibility, and fraternal goodness:

Praying to the merciful Lord, developing in us and others a positive and proactive mindset, teaching and creating awareness among the people whom we serve that seeking medical help in time is the best to cure, support the governmental schemes in order to arrest the Covid-19, and encourage our doctors, nurses, and health workers.

Pope Francis invites us with these words coming from his heart: “We have to find the concreteness of small things, to have simple attention towards those around us, family, friends. Understand that in small things there is our treasure. There are minimal gestures that sometimes get lost in the anonymity of everyday life, however gestures of tenderness, affection, the compassion that is decisive, and important. For example, a hot plate, a caress, a hug, a phone call are familiar gestures of attention in everyday realities that make life make sense and that there are communion and communication between us. " He said the loss of jobs along with the chance to spend more time with loved ones "suddenly opened our eyes to horizons that we have long since taken for granted", and that the period of lockdown allowed many to rediscover "the importance of simplicity, and of keeping our eyes fixed on the essentials".

He also said that the pandemic "has made us all the more aware of the presence of the poor in our midst and their need for help", and that its sudden arrival sparked "a powerful sense of bewilderment and helplessness" that also demonstrated "our own need for an outstretched hand.”
