5th Day Council Meeting and Break for weekend!!!!!!

At times it is difficult for us to accept that a person is great when we know his background and ancestry, when we have known him from his early years. We may not be able to separate our earlier impressions of him and accept that he has really accomplished great things. We and our judgments are affected by our prejudices and judgments on social status, education or lack thereof, political and religious beliefs, career and upbringing.

If we experience Christ today as he was in his time, poor and unknown, from a small town, the son of a carpenter, would we gladly welcome and accept him and his teachings? Would we climb a tree like Zaccheus to see him pass by? Would we be like the Pharisees: "Have any of the rulers or any of the Pharisees believed in him?" and: "Look it up and see for yourself that no prophet is to come from Galilee."

We have received our faith through our parents and ancestors. We have been taught about the great heroes of our faith. Let us make use of the Lenten season to learn more about our God and to strengthen our faith in him.
