Let's forget about ourselves and Concentrate on HIM..........

Humanly speaking no person wants to forget himself and concentrate on the higher divine values and principles. We would like always to promote ourselves and be in the limelight, be on the first page of a magazine or a daily newspaper. We would like to donate to some charitable institutions or the Church in order to be popular and get appreciation. In short we have a deeply seated desire to be better and higher, superior and unbeatable than the others. We would hardly speak about the good and achievements of the other but we ignore them. Due to jealousy and anger we would never recommend or promote a person who is superior to me in intelligence and work. We would try every means to pull him down due to the crab mentality, which we have cultivated within us over the period of years.

We are upset when one becomes rich or popular, when one earns more money than us we speak all sort of things about that person. We get jittery when people flock around a person who is charitable and social, who goes out to help the people in difficulty. We give the impression that we are better and can achieve more than the others, but in reality it is not so. Even if we have talents and capabilities of going higher, due to evil thoughts and jealousy about the others bring down the tone of our capabilities. We are not able to produce even though we are capable to achieving

We do not cultivate or teach our children and generation to appreciate who perform better than us. We can make that person more popular and grow to the greatest heights by our support, appreciation and acceptance of what he is or what he is doing. We can imitate or emulate the others in order to achieve the same heights. Like John the Baptist who said that Christ must increase and himself should decrease.

In today’s world, many people seek to be in the spotlight or to be important in some way. John knew his place in the best sense. He realized that he had a significant role in the drama that was unfolding. However, John was fully content to play his part & den step into the background. Are we content to play our part & then step into the background? Or are we always seeking greater position in d family, society and in d church? Let's be Humble, let's allow Christ to increase in us...
