Allow me to be generous!!!

It was after my vacations at home at the end of second year of Theology at Mysore. I was travelling from Mumbai to Bangalore by train. It was very hot and humid. You can imagine travelling for second class in Indian trains. The train get packed with passengers on the way who travel short distance get into the reserved compartment. Normally in the reserved compartment the passengers react to these intruders who sometimes are a little arrogant and demanding too. Some of them pick up your valuables before getting down at their desired destination. This is the reason why passengers react negatively. During this travel of mine there were many who got into our compartment. some of them old, sickly, students etc. The old ones request to make some place on the seat which is meant for three passengers to accommodate the fourth one. Can be done easily. But the aspect of sharing and the question of reserved compartment. The feeling that we have paid more for this seat and why should we share with these intruders. During this travel one young girl who had not reserved but had to travel quite a long distance for her university examinations. She was standing and scanning through notebooks. Every now and then she was looking at us to invite her to sit. I saw her struggle and the request in her eyes. More than that a young girl dreaming of a bright future and going to answer her exam to be someone in life. Upon asking she shared that it was final year examination. I got up and offered her my seat. The reaction of co-passengers was evidently negative. The girl had to travel for two hours. I jut kept walking up and down. Sometimes sitting when a passenger would go to toilet. But the reaction of the others made me to think about my freedom to do charity and to be generous. Am I not supposed to use what i have and do what i want to do. May be my talents and gifts, my wealth, profession etc for the good of others?. There are so many who would like to do what Jesus and others did, to give a helping hand ....to make someone smile amidst their sufferings and problems....to be with someone to console and to spend time in listening.....

We are called to make this world a better place by using what we have been blessed with....sharing with those who might need it most.....these days in our social media people share some good inspiring videos of heroic actions like saving an animal, saving some persons on the roads....it is good to see that.....we do it because we value the human life...we see God in these unfortunate beings.....we give what we have received and no one has a right to block and stop us doing it....
