Eugene, Philippian provincial and President of PACC welcomed the participants
for the meeting…..he greeted the participants in their proper languages by
doing a good research of the language.
He then invited the General Minister Mauro to address the participants.
It was the second time that he is attending such kind of meeting. The decision
of the last general chapter to have a general councilor from this area was the
best and fraternal. This decision and choice was good and blessings for the
order and the General council. This is an opportunity to know by close in order
to appreciate you and your apostolate. In the General Curia we receive many
requests from your provinces with names but we don’t know who they are but
today we can see and know each other….this will help us to know and help each
reciprocally. This week we will come to know your challenges in this
area…..there is richness that you have in the conference we will
encounter…..the future of the Order is in Asia….India and Indonesia….the future
of the Order is in your hand….let us dialogue…..to prepare to hand over the
responsibility of the Order. To hear and feel the various rich cultures of Asia
and dialogue among yourself, sharing your richness…..our way of being capuchin
needs to be cultivated….unfortunately it is European….we would like to know how
to dialogue with other religions.

Mark Schenk then presented a power point on the statistics of the Order. The
order is inter connected and the order is becoming smaller.
