Bishop Hartmann School and College Bareilly


Hartmann College Bareilly , is a co-educational institution run by the the Christian Catholic Minority and recognized by the Department of Education (U.P.) and founded in the year 1967. It is affiliated to Council for Indian School Certificate Examinations, New Delhi . The Institution is managed and governed by the order of Friars Minor Capuchins through a registered body, Hartmann Educational Society, Bareilly The medium of instruction from class I to Xii is English. Hindi is a compulsory subject.

VISION- To produce atmosphere intellectually Enlightened, Spiritually inspired, Emotionally balanced, Morally upright, Socially commited, accomplished. GOAL TO create a society in which all may have life in its fullness, liberated from the shackles and bondage of ignorance and oppression. Where people would accept each other as sisters and brothers under the parenthood of GOD.

AIMS AND OBJECTIVES- The aim of this religious body is to develop in the pupils the qualities that will make them worthy citizens of India . Besides instruction, the school aims at the development of the whole personality of the student. Hence education is directed towards the training of the pupil's intellectual, Moral emotional, Physical and aesthetic endowments and such other cultural attainments as are suitable for boys and girls. A course of religious instruction and value education is imparted to all the students.

HISTORY- Bishop Anastatius Hartmann was born in Atwis, in the Canton of Lucerne Switzerland on 24 Feb 1803 . He came to India as a missionary and worked in places like Gwalior Patna and Mumbai. He founded many schools and dispensaries and carried out many charitable works for the poor and weaker section of the society. He was a scholar and good writer. Through a foreigner by birth, he knew as many as seven Indian languages very fluently. For his love for the poor and commitment to the educational apostolate he fondly remembered and reached the greater heights of learning. Inspired by his life and carry on his work of educational apostolate the capuchin Fathers founded the Hartmann College and have chosen him to be the patron of the college and adopted the motto "HE WHO LOVES KNOWLEDGE LOVES DISCIPLINE" which was the guiding principle of Bishop Hartmann, the servant of God.
