Happy Birthday to General Secretary

Br. Clayton Fernandes, General Secretary celebrates his birthday today. He hails from Goa province of St. anthony. He comes from a very good Catholic family. He joined the Capuchins in the early 90's as a young boy, clever, intelligent and talented. I first saw him in the Novitiate where i was preparing myself for my ordination. I saw a young man with guitar in hand singing in the choir with melodies voice. Since then we have been meeting every now and then. He was ordained in his parish church and i was fortunate to attend his ordination. It was a joy to young Clayton climbing the Altar to say definite yes to the Lord. He has been then serving the Province of St. Anthony in various capacities. He is good in everything. He first served in a boarding school at Monte Guirim and then he was promoted to study scripture in Rome. He did very well and picked up languages which were part of the study. He returned to the province after successfully completing his licentiate in the Holy Scriptures. He taught in various seminaries and formation houses in India.
He was appointed as the vice secretary for the General chapter of 2012. He did a good job there as a vice secretary and impressed everyone. The newly elected general council set its eyes on him as the new General Secretary. He was appointed and he willingly accepted the appointment.
Since one year that he is the secretary and he has already shown his class and commitment to the job. He is very loving and approachable friar. Anyone can talk to him and he understands the difficulties of others. He has a lot of work but he does that wearing a capuchin smile always.
He is a good cook too and every now and then he shows his talents in cooking in curia.
As he celebrates his birthday we would like to wish him long life, peace, happiness, good health and continuation of the commitment to the Capuchin Charism. May good Lord bless and keep him always in the hollow of His hands.
