St. Francis Assisi Parish and Capuchin Minor Seminary, Latur

since 30 years the Capuchins have been working here in Latur which comes under the diocese of Aurangabad.....the capuchins preferred to run a parish than a begin a school...the school was given to the Sisters of our Lady of Fatima....today the school is one of the best schools in the town....the town over the period of years has grown and developed.....the earthquake in 1993 had destroyed the villages around the town....the memories are still fresh in the minds of the people....
The parish has small number of parishioners who are mostly from other states of the country....there are few families from Kerala, Mangalore, Andhra Pradesh and Goa....the floating population makes it difficult for any solid pastoral plan....the friars have been actively involved in the pastoral work....
Today the Bishop of Aurangabad Ambrose Rebello blessed the new statute of our Lady, a big and Crucifix and blessed the newly renovated Altar.....the parishioners and some of our friars participated in the Eucharist....we processed from Sisters school carrying the statute to the church....the locals are all Hindus and Muslims.....many visit our church to pray....
After the Eucharist a short cultural program was organized by the parishioners...the small children danced and sang.....
A local Municipal councillor joined the celebration....she spoke few words of appreciation and promised her help for the church and the parishioners....we in turn promised her our prayers and best wishes for the future...

All the friars and sisters were felicitated by the Bishop with floral bouquets and a shawl....

The future of the Parish...in full swing and action....
The donors and architect of the renovated Sanctuary....
