The whole world is trying to preserve language and culture as it is in danger of vanishing....especially some local languages or dialects which are rich in content and are unique. Some 8 years ago a small group of young men came together with a vision and mission of promoting local culture and language in South Vasai. In South Vasai people have Samvedi Brahmin Culture and speak Samvedi Konkani. But over the years people began sending their children to English medium schools and slowly began to speak Marathi and English at home. To speak Kadodi samvedi Konkani was considered to be out of fashion....children began to lose touch with this beautiful language which has many Portuguese words....
The group began planning and talking to people and began promoting the local language by convincing the people to speak and preserve it....The first celebration the next day of the Christmas 8 years ago which was a big success ....every year they began to organize a cultural evening....people from all walks of life began to enjoy it....now every year people anxiously wait for this event.
My grandniece and Nephew dressed up in our traditional dress......our grandparents and parents wore this dress....today all wear for feasts and marriages....the dress and language is slowly getting back on track...
