It's our human nature not to jump immediately to believe or have a confidence in a person and in his works and activities. Our first reaction is doubt and suspicion. We want that person to prove his worth or do something that will help us to believe and accept his credibility. One way it may be right but most of the time we miss the good persons and their goodness for the good of the society. The lack of belief can may skip the grace of God which He send through a person whom we don't accept. 
When the people of Israel found difficult to accept the Divinity of Jesus they always wanted Him to perform miracles and signs from heaven. People of Nineveh recognised God's sign, they believed in the message of prophet Jonah & they Repented. But now religious leaders failed to recognise Jesus Christ as a Son of God, dey demanded sign from Him. Although they had seen many miracles of Jesus but still their eyes were blind to see it, their ears were deaf to listen it. Therefore Jesus denied to give any sign for Dem. He said to them, "This generation is an evil generation, it seeks a sign, but no sign shall be given to it" What about me? Do I believe in Jesus? Or do I always ask Him signs of His presence?
