So Can we be Saved?

The rich man for the miserable ephemeral goods, of an instant, rejects the great eternal good. The words of Jesus are held by the disciples without appeal: "Truly I tell you. Hardly a rich man will enter the kingdom of heaven. I repeat: is it easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God? On the contrary, they extend them to every man: "So, who can be saved?" The answer of Jesus is even more surprising: "This is impossible for men, but to God everything is possible". The speech of Jesus is clear. Riches imprison the heart. If at first it is honest and holy, little by little it will begin to become dishonest and evil. In the dishonesty and wickedness of the heart there is no eternal salvation

Can we go back from wickedness and dishonesty? Can we convert it? Can we repent and start a new life? Jesus attests that it is possible. But not with the forces of man, but with the powerful grace of God. However, the Lord does not always act in a direct way. It normally acts indirectly, through its ministers. It is up to them to free their hearts from the afflictions of wealth, so that they may dedicate themselves to the service of God, in truth, in justice, in great charity and if it is required, even in the great renunciation. Next to Jesus we find rich and wealthy men. There are women who assist the Master and the disciples with their goods. Jesus himself converted Levi and Zacchaeus. Lazarus and the two sisters, Joseph of Arimathea, Nicodemus were not poor people.
