Anugraha Friary and School, Bidar

This is a mission area and the diocese is about 10 years old. The priests of the diocese of Mangalore worked here very hard to establish the church....some years ago there were a lot of conversions....the Catholics in the entire diocese of Gulbarga is about 10000. Many priest and religious men and women are working in the diocese. The Catholics are poor and landless. They have to work for the landlords and look after their families. The capuchins came here about 15 years ago to render pastoral care for the catholics. They have about five villages where the friars go everyday for the Mass, catechism and other social work. It is very difficult and tough mission area.....This place called Bidar does not receive good monsoon. For last three years it has not rained and so people have not been able to cultivate. The Capuchins have now started a school for last six years...sheer hard work of the friars and the intention of educating the poor people...
Br. Victor Crasta is the headmaster and there are three more friars....they work hard to bring up the school.....the buses go to the villages to fetch the students....their priority is to educate poor Catholics too

The number of students is about 400 till 5th class....and it is increasing.....the children though poor are very talented and intelligent....

They performed dances and drills to welcome me

Br. Victor is giving me the background of the school and Br Lourdesswamy is looking on....he is the vice headmaster

We are enjoying the rehearsal of the school day function which was held next day

Prize distribution was held one day before

There are about 20 teachers ....i addressed them for about one hour.....good and committed teachers under the able leadership of Friar Victor
