Mangalore to Brahmavar is about 60km….today it can be covered up within an hour. Br. Peter Cyprian did that in one hour. The road is express highway. The roads are very good and as a result the commuting has become very easy and comfortable.
Brahmavar is the parish of the Capuchins for many years. This parish has also a school run by the diocese. Earlier it was given to the Capuchins to run and later on they took back from us. Today the management is with the diocese.
This parish has given lot of vocations to the Capuchins. Br. Vincent Futardo, ex provincial of Karnataka is from here.
There are five friars and Br. Anthony Vaz is the superior and parish priest. The parish has about 600 families and very solid catholic families. A new church is under construction which will be completed by end of May or so. The friars are involved in pastoral ministry and other apostolate. They have good number of fraternities of OFS.
