Mercy: to feel like the other

It is very easy to cast stones on the other. It is very simple to point an accusing finger towards the wrong doer. It costs nothing. It does not invovle my person. So one can go on accusing a wrong doer without really knowing the fact. Why the wrong doer has committed an act which disturbs me? One needs to study and find out. One needs to express solidarity and be with the wrong doer. To feel with the wrong doer is what i would call an act of mercy and compassion. It is only when we give chance for the wrong doer that we really come to know the reality. Accusing and alleging someone without the facts and truth is not allowing a person to reform and change. We make a wrong doer worse in his or her situation.
A certain good Catholic, daily church goer, very active in the Parish and very much involved in the parish activity, was accused of having robbed and misused certain funds of the parish. It was the talk of the town. He was spoken every where, market and streets, church and homes, it was the only talk. The person involved was not asked about the misuse of funds. It was unbearable for the family and him. His children were taunted by the friends and it was just like hell for the children. They knew that their father was a clean man. On genetleman went on to write in the local news paper. It was then that some good parishioners along with the priest took the lead to find out the truth. They found out that it was not true what the rumours making round. The person involved had in fact put in his own money. He wanted all this while to explain but no one was ready to listen. finally the one who wrote against, wrote once again in the local news paper expressing his regret and apology. it was too late. A lot of damage was done to the family. Just one remark of someone opened the eyes of the writer: What if you were in his place? Feel like the sinner......look at the sinner and not his sins....love him as Jesus Loved him......give a chance
