St. Jude's Friary, Mukhathala, Kollam

This place is about 15km away from Kollam city and situated in a village. The Capuchin friars are working here for more than 50 years. They came here to serve the Catholics of Syro-Malankara rite. The friars are serving this community for number of years. They have a small parish of about 150 families, well taken care of spiritually. The early friars who came here thought of education of the local people....they began a small school in Malayam medium and later English medium later on. The  people are very grateful to the capuchins for this great service. This school is about 50 years old and have produced many men and women of calibre.
The parish church in honor of St. Jude......they have novenas and many programs are conducted here. ...
Br. Jisho is the principal of the CBC school where there are 1400 students, its an English medium school and the syllabus is not state but Central board.....the school is know for its discipline and high standard of education...

We visited the school, kept very clean and in order....Congrats friars.....Friars Thomas, George antony is guardian, manager and provincial councilor.....good  animator....
The long clean corridors.....absolute silence in the school.....No one allowed in the school campus during the school hours.....
Friar George, he is the principal of another section of the school which is under the state board....he is here for last 4 years and has brought the school to a good standard and earned name for the school through handwork and discipline....there are about 1500 school children here....most of them come from lower and middle class families....the fees are very low compared to other competitive schools around....the parents prefer to come to St. Jude school because of discipline and standard....

The school building of the state board school......good environment and surrounding...peaceful and silent....ideal place of learning...

Old school bus converted into theater for the school children....the friars hit upon a creative idea...why sell a bus which has served the school for many years....let it remain in the campus and be a silent and mute witness to the growth of the school and children....today it is a theater for the children who come here to watch educative movies connected with the syllabus...for small kids it a wonderful place to watch cartoons....
