Report of the Franciscan Institute of Spirituality

This afternoon we spent listening to the report of Br. Paolo Martinelli, the president of the Institute. he has been working very hard ever since he assumed its leadership. He leaves no ston unturn in order to make IFS a place for study and research. He himself is a scholar and a well known professor of Baltazar. He is appreciated even for his wonderful talks on vita consacrata. He is very much capuchin franciscan in his thinking and writing. When he speaks one feels like listening to him for hours. This afternoon he presented a very comphrensive report of the institute. We just appreciated his capacity to run smoothly and in a very effective way the institute.
In his report he gave us a birds eye view of the various program, activities, conventions, symposiums and inter-religious dialogue. He conducts various programs for the students to have a first hand experience of the place, like a visit to the historical places in Rome to get in touch with the history of Rome.
He conducts a day of study in which various themes are dealt and many scholars are invited to speak.
The number of students is always on rise. There are 148 students in the entire Institute which is a big number for an institute. He has started Masters program for which the request from various parts of the world is on increase. He has introduced also the e-learning too which is a new thing in the institute.
He also planning to conduct some courses also in Holy Land where we capuchins have a house called "I am the Light of the World".
