Capuchins Missionaries in North India

The Capuchin Missionaries who came from Europe and evangelized the whole of North India is reaping a great harvest today. The Missionaries worked in Places like Agra, Patana, Jhansi, Banares and Lucknow, today all these places are either dioceses or Archdiocese. There are many great institutions and among them are the well known schools and colleges. The credit goes to the Capuchin Missionaries like Hartmann and the rest. The Capuchins invited various religious congregations to work in the missions and today they are doing yeoman's service to the society and Church of North India.

In Lucknow where our Capuchins are working is a city which is blessed by the presence of many religious congregations who were invited by its first bishop who was a Capuchin Conrad Di Vitto. Today congregations like Montfort brothers, CMI fathers, Sisters of St. Joseph's Medical sisters, Carmelite sisters and Loretto sisters. All of them have education institutions and Medical Institutions. It is a great feeling to hear that the early Capuchins invited these religious congregations. They are all grateful including the Diocesan clergy.
